Our past CSF Corrections Couples Weekend Marriage Retreats were such
an encouragement and inspiration to the staff and spouses who
“Walk the Toughest Beat.”
We can’t wait for this year’s retreat!
Why a Corrections Couples Retreat?
If the motto of the California Correctional Peace Officers’ Association “The Toughest Beat in the State” is accurate, then marriages in Corrections may just be the toughest to successfully maintain. We know the rate of family stress in law enforcement marriages is high, and it may be even higher in Corrections.
This Weekend Marriage Retreat will allow Corrections couples to get away, relax in a safe environment, focus on themselves and their marriages, and return home better equipped to face the challenges of a Corrections marriage.
The Weekend Marriage Retreat is designed to provide Corrections staff and spouses with a fun, relaxing, informative, and encouraging weekend.
This retreat is exclusively for Corrections staff (Custody, Probation, Parole) and their spouses, both active and retired. Only one spouse needs to be in Corrections. Strong marriages will be encouraged; marriages that need help and support will find it. This retreat will be presented from the traditional, biblical perspective that marriage is between a man and woman (Genesis 2:18-25).
Our retreat will begin on Friday evening with check-in beginning at 4:00 pm, and will conclude on Sunday at 12:00 noon. A detailed agenda will be provided on check-in.
This Year’s Theme: “Happily Even After – Doing Marriage Right”
We are excited to welcome as our presenters Barry and Teri Stagner.
Barry is a Pastor, Author and Police Chaplain with a heart for Corrections staff and their marriages!
A native of Southern California, Barry was born into a Christian home, but in his mid-teens involved him self in the drug and alcohol culture of the day and began a cycle of destructive living that would consume the next decade of his life. Married at 20 to his beautiful wife Teri, the abuse and drunkenness drove the young couple to separation and to the filing of divorce papers. God, however, had another plan. Author of the popular book “Happily…EVEN AFTER-Doing Marriage Right,” Barry and Teri will present several topics from his book designed to strengthen Corrections marriages, including:
- Communication & Listening
- The Rules of Combat
- What to Do When Everything Goes Wrong.
The Corrections Couples Weekend Marriage Retreat is facilitated by a team of veteran Correctional peace officers and spouses who understand the challenges of a Corrections marriage. They have learned through their own life’s journeys how to have a marriage that not only survives, but thrives!
